This study provides clinicians and researchers with evidence on the diagnostic efficacy of a verb-naming test (AVNT) in identifying cognitive abnormalities in ALS patients. The AVNT demonstrated optimum intrinsic and post-test characteristics as compared to ALSci/cbi diagnoses within the patient cohort and was able to distinguish ALS patients from demographically similar HCs. Additionally, being also connected with its measurements, the AVNT demonstrated moderate to high accuracy in identifying both global and domain-specific impairments as revealed by the ECAS. Additionally, disease-related characteristics were not linked to AVNT performance, suggesting the use of verb-naming tests regardless of the clinical circumstances of patients. The weakness of the study is that, despite being a prevalent practise , no comparison with noun naming was made in this study because it was outside of its purview. Additionally, because the AVNT is a timed assessment, poor performance may have been due to a slowdown in processing speed rather than a lack of verb naming per se (Aiello, Edoardo Nicolò et al.,2022 p.3).
